It is important that the gas log set is properly
sized to fit the fireplace. Improper sizing may
negatively impact the proper drafting of the
fireplace. Additionally, too large a log set will
adversely affect the burn and hamper the proper
operation of the control system. Too small a set
will diminish the beauty of the hearth setting. Measure
the
fireplace using the dimensions illustrated (Figure
1). Compare these to the set dimensions found in the
table above. A minimum of 2 inches of space must
be maintained between the sid walls of the fireplace and
the burner system equipment.
For improved aesthetics, the gas logs and the burner
pan should be centered in the fireplace. This may result
in the control system on the burners extending further
to one side. Be sure to allow for space to accommodate
the control system (Figure 2).
To calculate the largest vented gas logs set
that will fit in your fireplace properly, do the
following:
-
Measure the fireplace getting the dimensions as
noted above
-
Compare the dimensions to the chart below.
-
Subtract 4 inches from your fireplace's Front
Width to allow for the minimum of 2 inches of space
that are needed between the side walls of the
fireplace and the burner system equipment.
-
If you are NOT adding a Pilot Kit
(Natural Gas Units Only) , this gives you a
total of 4 inches that are needed to subtract from
your fireplace's Front Width. The remaining total is
the largest size vented gas log set that will fit
properly in your fireplace.
-
If you will be getting a Safety Pilot
Kit (required in propane units) , you must
subtract another 4 inches from your fireplace's
Front Width to compensate for the size of the Safety
Pilot Kit. This gives you a total of 8 inches that
are needed to subtract from your fireplace's Front
Width. The remaining total is the largest size
vented gas log set that will fit properly in your
fireplace.
-
If you will be getting an Automatic
Pilot Kit (i.e. remote ready kits) , you
must subtract another 8 inches from your fireplace's
Front Width measurement to compensate for the size
of the Automatic Pilot Kit. This gives you a total
of 12 inches that are needed to subtract from your
fireplace's Front Width measurement. The remaining
total is the largest size vented gas log set that
will fit properly in your fireplace.
*** It is recommended to include complete
fireplace dimensions (Front Width, Rear Width, Depth, &
Height) in the comments section when placing your order
to ensure proper sizing. ***
